Agroecology (Crop Cultivation and Farming Systems), Greenhouse gas emissions

Biographie

My name is Oluwaseyi Oyewale Bankole, and I am a Lecturer in the Department of Crop Production and Protection, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. I am an agroecologist and crop scientist with strong expertise in crop cultivation and farming systems, seed science, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions mitigation, climate-smart agriculture, and sustainable food systems.
I have obtained my Ph.D. in Agroecology (Crop Cultivation and Farming Systems) from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), Beijing, China, where my research focused on rice-based cropping systems in China, nitrogen management, straw incorporation, tillage patterns, water management, and greenhouse gas emissions. I earned my M.Sc. in Seed Science and Technology from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and my B.Sc. in Plant Science and Biotechnology from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria.
I have over nine years of research, teaching, and field-based experience, spanning Nigeria, China, and international research collaborations. I have served as a Graduate Research Assistant at CAAS, a Research Assistant under the UK-funded CIRCLE project, and a scientist and seed production advisor to private agribusiness firms. I have served as a Lead Researcher at Farm Synergies LLC and a consultant to Prakto Farms, where I provide technical oversight on crop production systems, seed propagation, and sustainable agronomic practices.
My research outputs include peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals such as Agronomy, European Journal of Soil Biology, European Journal of Soil Science, and Journal of Experimental Agriculture International. He is also a reviewer for international journals, including Applied Soil Ecology, Discover Agriculture, and Scientific Reports. I am a recipient of the Chinese Government Scholarship, the Beijing Government Scholarship, and the Springland Kids Foundation Scholarship.
Beyond research, I have demonstrated strong leadership and managerial capacity, coordinating research projects, training farmers, mentoring students, and contributing to policy-relevant discussions on climate change, food security, and sustainable agriculture. My work aligns with global efforts to develop resilient farming systems that enhance productivity while reducing environmental footprints.
